Before & After School

In our before and after-school program, we offer a safe and stimulating space where your child’s day ends with care and enriching experiences. Our program is designed to seamlessly complement their school day, providing a balanced mix of academic support, creative activities, and opportunities for social growth from kindergarten thru 8th grade.

Our program aims to provide a well-rounded environment that supports your child’s growth and development in various aspects. Here’s a breakdown of what our program entails:

• Activities: Our program features a variety of daily activities that promote positive growth in the development of social skills such as self-control, responsibility, and cooperative play. The creative arts program encourages students to express originality and creativity. Cultural enrichment is fostered through art, science, music, drama, storytelling, and cooking experiences. Outdoor games, sports, and recreation activities contribute to healthy fitness habits.
• Exergames: Immediately after school, students participate in an organized physical activity period to burn off excess energy. Everyone enjoys this brief team-building activity.
• Homework or Individual Activity Period: This thirty-minute activity period is “library” quiet. Students do homework or other individual activities such as reading or coloring. Staff is available to answer simple homework questions.
• Pluses: Each year, students have the opportunity to enter their arts and crafts projects in various contests such as the Alameda County Fair, the Waste Management Calendar competition, etc. Professional teachers occasionally offer fee-based classes in sign language, sports, karate, yoga, or dance. Families can also enjoy extracurricular activities such as Parents’ Night Out, Kids’ Night Out, Game Night, and Overnights. The Winter Boutique is a handicraft sale that the students operate as a business.
• Schedule: The Kids Care Plus program is designed to provide a balanced activity schedule. This balance offers children an opportunity to learn and play in a stress-free environment. Quiet and active recreation activities are scheduled to complement each other throughout the day.
• Snacks/Lunches: Students bring their lunch when attending at lunchtime. We serve one snack after school and a morning and after-school snack on full days and during Summer Day Camp.
• Staff: The college-trained staff at Kids Care exceeds state licensing requirements. All teachers hold current First Aid, CPR, and Water Safety certifications.
• Staffing Ratio: During peak attendance periods, our one-to-ten staff/student ratio provides students with more individual attention and safety. The state-mandated ratio of 1:14 is observed at all other times.
